Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the Live Life Unapologetically podcast. I am Shannon and today we are going to start a mini-series on different money blocks that are slowing down your abundance and business. I started this last week unintentionally, when I was talking about the four money blocks that we have. That may not be actually a scarcity block, that many coaches will say, oh, you just have a scarcity mindset. But there are other money mindsets that are slowing down your abundance and slowing down your business. I gave four of them and I thought you know what, let’s go into detail on each of these, and so a mini series was born out of that. I kind of go over them in last week’s podcast, but let’s really dive into them. So the four that I talked about were worth, hustle, culture, comparison and staying small. I was going to start with worth because you know I was like let’s just flow with how the podcast flowed last week. But I was like, no, let’s talk about this hustle block, because if you’re trying to build abundance and build business, especially in today’s society, we tend to fall into the hustle block. So we’re going to tear down the idea that you have to hustle your way to wealth. This block not only kept me broke mentally and emotionally, but it also stole time with my kids. It drained my energy. It left me questioning why the hell I was even working so hard in the first place. It did bring me money, but not wealth, not freedom, not ease, just more work.

Speaker 1:

The hustle mindset tells you that the only way to make real money is to have a full-time job and at least one side hustle. But even these days, people are touting the idea of having three side hustles. It tells you that wealth is only created through grinding, pushing and forcing. It says that if you’re not working all the time, you’re missing out on clients and sales and success, not to mention. It also gives this idea that before your business can be easy, it has to be hard as hell. First I bought into every single one of those lies until I finally saw it for what it was a trap. So today we’re going to break this down and set you free Because, no, you don’t have to hustle your way to wealth, you just have to unlearn everything society has drilled into you. So let’s grab our favorite drink cozy up and get started. I really want you to settle in with this one with me.

Speaker 1:

Let’s talk about the first lie, which is hard work equals wealth, because this belief runs really deep. We hear it from childhood Work hard and you’ll succeed. Put in the effort and you’ll be rewarded. The harder you work, the more you’ll get. And yet, how many people do you know that are working their asses off every single day and still struggling? How many women are working two jobs, raising families, running businesses and barely making ends meet? Meanwhile the wealthy. They’re not grinding 24-7. They aren’t running themselves into the ground, they’re delegating. They’re creating passive income. They’re using their energy strategically.

Speaker 1:

But we’re sold a fake equation that more hours equals more money, more effort equals more success. And it’s a scam, because hard work alone does not create wealth. Alignment does the hustle block doesn’t just limit the amount of money you allow yourself to receive, it also steals the joy from the money you do make. I know this because I lived it. There was a time I was making money but I still couldn’t enjoy my life because I was exhausted from chasing, from grinding, from pushing, from forcing. I was always working to bring that wealth in, always had to work. And if I stopped for a second then the wealth would slow down and I would freak out and I would be like no, let me go work some more. What was the point of having the money and the success if I couldn’t travel without being stressed out about work, if I couldn’t just relax on the weekend and do fun stuff, what was the point? There isn’t a point, it’s a trap, because work being your life is no life at all. I spent so much time working that I couldn’t even be present in my everyday life. That money was supposed to be building me a life where I could be present, where I didn’t have to work for pennies. Oh, now I’m successful, I have a successful career, but it came with a cost, because I went into it with a hustle mindset. I will never forget the time when we were having some barbecue or event I forget what it was for and all my kids went over to my friend’s house and they were swimming and having fun. I was sitting outside on the porch with all my friends around and the kids having fun and laughing, and there was a laptop in my lap and I was working. That’s not a wealthy life, money or not. What kind of life is that?

Speaker 1:

You know, when it really hit me that the success I had wasn’t wealth, wasn’t true wealth wasn’t true abundance Was during COVID. It was during COVID, when we were all stuck at home, I started to see everything I was missing right in front of my face. I know everybody had their own experiences, but for me it forced me to slow down and be in the moment. And being in the moment was so important to me because of everything going around, because I had already lost people to the virus, that I wanted to make sure I was in every single moment with the people around me. And I realized at that moment in time I had been looking at life and wealth and abundance and success in all the wrong ways, because wealth isn’t just about having money, it’s about having time, it’s about having freedom, it’s about having ease, and none of these things exist when you’re trapped in the hustle.

Speaker 1:

This mindset keeps you broke. Because the hustle mindset doesn’t just exhaust you, it actively limits the amount of money you’re allowed to receive. Because when you believe that wealth only comes from work, then you are literally telling the universe I will only accept money that I have to work for. You guys have heard my story that a little over a year ago I decided I wanted to make five figures a month, that I didn’t have to work for and this really was a healing journey for me because I was coming out of this hustle culture, this hustle mindset overworking oh, the busier I am, the more successful I am. I wanted to train myself and learn that wealth can come from anywhere. So I decided I’m going to manifest five figures a month that I don’t have to work for. And it happened, and it’s been happening for over a year consistently that I have five figures a month of money coming to me that I don’t work for. Because when you tell the universe I will only accept the money I have to work for. Guess what happens? The only money you make is tied to effort. You reject passive income opportunities. You block financial gifts, unexpected windfalls or money coming from anywhere outside of exhaustion and effort. If the work stops, then so does your money, because that is what you believe. That is not abundance, that is just surviving, that is survival mode.

Speaker 1:

I even invented hustle culture because, if you can’t tell, it irritates me and maybe it still triggers me in a way. Maybe it triggers me because I bought into it for so long, being a teen mom and somebody who didn’t come from wealth in any way. Maybe it triggers me because I bought into it for so long. Being a teen mom and somebody who didn’t come from wealth in any way, shape or form in my family, I really thought the way to succeed and to break out of poverty was to work myself to the bone. Where did that come from? Because real CEOs, the actual wealthy people, they aren’t hustling, they’re working when they want to, they’re doing what they love and they only handle the parts of business that actually light them up, the things that they want to do. So what is this obsession with working yourself into the ground? It’s middle management men. Yeah, that’s right, you heard me.

Speaker 1:

Hustle culture was pushed by men who weren’t CEOs but wanted to feel just as important as the CEO. They weren’t making the money they thought they deserved or wanted, so they created this illusion of importance through being busy. They wanted to say look at me like this, look at me. Attitude like look at everything I’m doing. To say look at me like this, look at me. Attitude like look at everything I’m doing, pick me, give me more, promote me, see me. They equated exhaustion with success because they saw CEOs making millions and assumed well, if I’m working this hard for scraps, then the CEO must be working 10 times harder, except they weren’t.

Speaker 1:

What’s worse is that women absorbed this mindset even more because we’ve been conditioned to prove ourselves through effort to be good employees and good wives and good business owners by being selfless, by sacrificing, by working harder than anyone else in the room. It’s almost expected of women, right? The reason we have this mindset is because we’re always trying to prove ourselves, because we have to be everything just to even be acknowledged that if we’re really good at work, we must suck at home. If we’re really good at home, we must suck at work. Like all of these things. And for what? To still be told that we haven’t done enough. That ends today. I want it to end for you today.

Speaker 1:

That is why, when I work with my clients and we’re building business, we build the business that they want, the business of their dream of alignment. So not only are we focusing on building the business in alignment and doing work in a way that feels good, with ease, that still brings in wealth, but we also work on every other thing manifestation, because it’s important to understand that wealth doesn’t just come from your work Like this is one avenue I work. I’m doing something I’m passionate about. I’m in my creative mode. I understand how to delegate and make systems for the obligation work, the work that could drain your energy, the task, and I stay in creation mode. So we work on that within business, but we also work with just manifesting in general. We don’t get so stuck on. This is where my wealth is coming from, because we don’t know why are we limiting the universe on where the wealth we want comes from.

Speaker 1:

Most people start businesses because they want to do something that they’re passionate about, that they love on a daily basis, that feels good, and they also want to get out of the nine to five grind. They’re sick of being tired and exhausted. The only way to do that is to practice manifestation, learn manifestation and be open to any and all things and wealth and abundance coming in any and all ways, while also building something where what you do daily feels good. That wealth can come from there but it can come from other places too. That I’m not putting all of my eggs in this one basket, so to speak. That all my wealth has to come from my business. That’s the only way I’m going to make it in this world. It’s twofold. So when I’m working with my clients. We’re working on both things, not just one thing. Let’s build this business that feels good and aligned to you, that makes the impact in the world that you’re passionate about, but let’s also manifest abundance with no limits, because who wants to be in hustle culture? Nobody.

Speaker 1:

But hustle culture has really been pushed, and pushed for so many reasons. It was invented by men and then business owners picked up on it. It was like people are gonna feel they wanna feel important more than they wanna be paid good, so let’s give them lots of tasks and keep them busy, but we’re still not gonna pay them their worth and they’re just gonna keep grinding for us. And so now, because, oh, being busy made people feel successful and valued. Because I’m busy, see how important I am the shitty business owners just took advantage of that and was like okay, we’re going to play to this insecurity and we’re going to exploit it. And now we have hustle culture to the point where people feel the need to have to have two, three, four jobs or side hustles just to make it and survive. No, we’re not doing that anymore, especially not women. Let’s stop playing the game. Let’s stop playing in that system. Create our own systems through manifestation.

Speaker 1:

How do we even shift from hustle to abundance? And I really need you to get this deep in your bones that you don’t have to exhaust yourself for wealth, that money doesn’t come from effort, it comes from alignment, that abundance is not something you have to earn, it is something you allow. So how do you break free from the hustle block? Because so many women that come to me who are starting businesses or trying to grow their businesses are telling me all the hustle things they feel they need to do and they feel like they’re not hustling enough to make progress. No, let’s break free from that block. That block of hustling is what’s really holding them back. So you have to expand your view on where money can come from, because money is not just tied to work. It can be unexpected gifts, passive income, investments, opportunities that show up out of nowhere. It can be business ideas that feel easy and exciting.

Speaker 1:

I told you guys this before, but one time I got a check in the mail because I did business with some company who had messed up their terms and conditions at some point I don’t know something in their fine print legal whatever’s were wrong and I got a check in the mail, a big check in the mail. I didn’t do anything. I wasn’t expecting it. I didn’t even know that they had been under investigation and sued and all that. I had no idea. None, this was from years and years and years ago. It’s not like it was something. Oh, I just did business with them and it was messed. No, so unexpected Like I would have never in my life had said to myself. I think I’m going to get a really big check from a business who messed up the wording in their terms and conditions at some point. That never occurred to me. Would that have ever occurred to you?

Speaker 1:

Money can come from anywhere, so stop telling yourself that work is the only way that money can find. You Start working from abundance and not for it. I want you to ask yourself if you already had the money you wanted, how would you run your business? That’s one of the first things that I go through with my clients is we talk about how do you want the business to run and how it feels good to you. Ask yourself what tasks feel aligned and exciting and what tasks feel forced, and then you automate or you use tools to help you with the things that feel forced so that you can stay in your alignment and exciting creativity. I go over this in a blog that I’m writing. I was actually writing it before I started recording the podcast. Like I’m still in the middle of it, I’m going through the process. There’s a complete process I go through to write blogs and this blog is about.

Speaker 1:

Is using AI cheating, is it? I put in some examples in there on how I use AI, because some things are not exciting to me while other things are. That some examples in there on how I use AI because some things are not exciting to me while other things are. That way I can do what’s aligned and exciting and AI takes care of the rest. So for me, let’s talk about the podcast.

Speaker 1:

I love podcasting. I love doing audio, only podcasting. But editing I don’t like it. I do it but it’s not fun to me. It feels forced to me. So I use AI to edit the podcast so that I can do what’s aligning and what’s exciting, which is writing out the podcast, recording the podcast, and then I let AI do the editing. Now there’s some editing I do still, but like the kind of editing where it’s removing breaths because we all breathe heavy on a microphone because we have to breathe Background noises.

Speaker 1:

I live by a highway. There’s always accidents in the big city, so there’s always ambulance sirens or police sirens or fire truck sirens. Plus, I record in my home and my neighbors have dogs, and sometimes their dogs are outside barking, and sometimes they’re not. I have a dog, and sometimes she’s in the other end of the house and hears something outside barking, and sometimes they’re not. I have a dog and sometimes she’s in the other end of the house and hears something and she barks. I use AI to get rid of all of that, because when I used to do it on my own, it felt forced and frustrating. So what tasks feel aligned and exciting to you? What feels forced and frustrating to you? And then you can find ways to take those off your plate or find tools that can help you get through those faster. I have a whole blog about it that’s coming out this week. By the time this podcast is posted, the blog’s already going to be posted, but I’ll link it in the description if you want to go read that, just so you can take off some tasks that may feel forced using some really great tools that are out in the world today.

Speaker 1:

And then the other question I want you to ask yourself is where can you create more ease instead of more work and streamlining things? I am the master of streamlining. Anybody will tell you like it’s just a gift that I have. We all have our own gifts and so when I’m working with people, I get to share that gift with them. Like, how can we streamline, how can we create more ease and system and organization so that it feels easy? It should feel easy and it should feel good. So where can you create that? If you have a gift of organization or making systems, infuse that, so that your work, even though you’re passionate about it and you love it, it still feels more ease, then it does work. Wealth doesn’t require struggle, it requires alignment. And so when you start working because we work, because we’re passionate, we work because we like to do things work from abundance, not for abundance.

Speaker 1:

Finally, I want you to let go of the fear of missing out. Oh my gosh, the fear of missing out. One of the most successful, dynamic people I know still functions in the fear of missing out and it frustrates me because she’s so dynamic, but it keeps her in hustle mode because she fears missing clients and sales and success if she’s not always on. She’s really bought into the fact that, like she can’t watch a TV show and enjoy it without also working. I used to be the same way and I think that’s why it frustrates me so much, because I’m like it’s so much better on the other side. Come over here. It feels so good, she’s so about hustle, but she’s so amazing. She wouldn’t have to ever be like. That’s just a mindset that was put into us that if you’re not always on, you’re going to miss that client or that sale, that you’re not going to be successful. But you really do attract more when you’re in flow, you repel when you’re in desperation.

Speaker 1:

You don’t have to be available 24-7 to make money. You don’t have to work 80 hours a week to be successful. You don’t have to sacrifice your life to build wealth. Your business should serve you. Yeah, you create your business to serve customers, to serve the people you want to impact, but it should serve you too. The business I’m talking your business in general should serve you. You’re not serving the business. I’m not talking about your clients, your customers. I’m talking about the business itself. You’re not there to serve your business to do tasks all the time. You are there to do work you’re passionate about and enjoy every other area of your life, knowing that wealth comes from multiple places. This is just one way. When you are in flow, it just comes to you with ease.

Speaker 1:

Desperation is the biggest repeller of wealth. I’m so desperate to make money. So many people take their businesses out of desperation. Shannon, I need money now. Okay, you don’t have to hustle for it. Remember, money doesn’t just come from work. It can come from anywhere and it’s opening ourselves up to the abundance of the universe to know that money can come from many places.

Speaker 1:

I’m building this business to generate wealth. That makes me feel good, but it’s not the only place. And you don’t have to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I submit to you that your work is worse when you’re always available. When you’re overworking because you are not rested, you are overwhelmed and you are burnt out, and creativities and ideas and serving the people you want to serve cannot happen from burnout. So if you are ready to build a business without hustle, without burnout, without sacrificing your life in the process, that’s exactly what I help women do in my Manifest she coaching, because wealth isn’t about working harder, it is about alignment.

Speaker 1:

If you haven’t done so already, I want you to subscribe to the Manifest she magazine. I want you to go do it now because it is packed with strategies, mindset shifts, manifestation tips to ditch hustle, to step into effortless abundance. Like I said before, it’s twofold. So within the Manifest she magazine you get articles on just manifestation in general and manifesting abundance that aren’t tied to work, so that you can manifest abundance in your life from wherever the universe wants to bring it to you from. And then there are articles about manifesting a business that works for you, also how to do things strategically in your business and make your workload easier. So there’s all of that and more.

Speaker 1:

You get a new magazine every single month. When you sign up, you get a welcome magazine. March magazine just went out, sorry, but when you sign up you get a welcome magazine and the welcome magazine is not focused on business. It literally is focused simply on manifestation, because that’s step one, so that you’re not tying all of your money and wealth and abundance to working. So you do get the welcome edition, so go get that. And then a new issue drops on the first of every month. As always, I’m going to put all of the links to everything I talk about in the show notes so that you can go and get that easily Before we go. I want you to listen to me. You’re not here to be exhausted. You’re not here to sacrifice yourself. You’re not here to work yourself into the ground. You are here to receive with ease. Stop grinding, stop forcing and stop waiting for permission to do things the easy way, because every moment you shift from working for money to allowing money to flow, everything changes. I’ll chat with you next week.
