Speaker 1:
Hey guys and welcome back to the Live Life at Apologetically podcast. I’m Shannon and today we’re diving into something that every woman business owner needs to hear, and that’s the four money blocks that are hurting your business. If you have been trying to manifest more wealth in your business, to grow your business, but you feel stuck, frustrated or like you’re spinning your wheels, you’ve probably heard the same tired advice over and over again that it’s just a scarcity mindset and that you need to believe that there is more than enough money to go around. What exactly is the scarcity mindset? It is one that is rooted in lack. The scarcity mindset says that there’s one pie and that everybody has to get from the same pie. So if somebody has a really big slice, then your slice is going to be smaller. We see that today with oh, the billionaires are hoarding all the wealth and if they just release some of their wealth, I could have mine too. Like that is scarcity mindset that there’s a limited amount. When we manifest, we know that there is more than enough. It doesn’t matter who holds what, because there’s always more. We can have scarcity mindset until we learn to get over it, which most women do, especially women who are manifesting businesses. I haven’t worked with one woman who’s manifested a business that was like I’m going to have a successful business as soon as the billionaires release some money. That’s not it. They truly believe that they can manifest wealth from themselves, from the universe, with co-creation. They don’t believe that lack. But there’s other mindsets that do hold women back that we don’t talk about. So scarcity can be a block, but it’s really not the only one. It just happens to be the one that seems to be defaulted to anytime we’re stuck somewhere.
Speaker 1:
I think it’s because it’s just the most popular one. I feel like it is the easiest one for coaches to say that you just have scarcity to honestly get you to buy their program or do their thing because they’re like no, you have the money for my program. And if you say you don’t, that’s just a scarcity mindset, like we just all money blocking mindsets, we just think, oh, scarcity, and I think that’s very harmful. I think it’s harmful and I kind of think it’s lazy work. If I’m going to be honest, not even kind of that’s lazy work, like let’s really see what’s holding you back. And as a manifestation coach, I’m not going to sit here and just talk about scarcity. I mean, we can talk about it. It is a thing, but it’s not the only thing. In fact, I see so many women who have done all the mindset work around scarcity, the affirmations, the visualization, the abundance journaling, and they’re still stuck. That’s because most of the money blocks that women business owners face aren’t about believing in lack. So today we’re going to go deeper. I’m breaking down the four biggest money blocks that are keeping women business owners from stepping into true financial success and how to finally shift them. I want you to grab your favorite drink, settle in and let’s start rewriting your money story.
Speaker 1:
Money blocks aren’t just about what you believe about money. They’re about what you believe about yourself. Now, that was a mouthful, so I’m going to say that again. Money blocks aren’t just about what you believe about money. They’re about what you believe about yourself. They show up as hesitation to raise your prices, feeling like you need to earn wealth through struggle, comparing your success to others and feeling behind shrinking your financial goals because you don’t earn wealth through struggle, comparing your success to others and feeling behind shrinking your financial goals because you don’t want to seem greedy. These aren’t just thoughts about money. They’re reflections of self-worth, societal conditioning and deep-seated fears around success. Let’s get into the blocks that have nothing to do with your view on money, but everything about your view on yourself.
Speaker 1:
I want you to remember, before we start talking about this, that your limiting beliefs because that’s all a block is it’s a limiting belief. I’ve said it before and I will say it again A limiting belief is simply a belief that no longer serves you. It was something that was taught to you, programmed into you, usually in childhood, and you’ve been carrying it, but it’s just not serving you. It doesn’t mean you’re defective or that there’s something wrong with you. It just means this belief no longer works for me. So it’s limiting me and I’m going to move on to something that opens me up to limitless opportunities. I want you to have that in your mind as we go through talking about these blocks, showing yourself compassion and seeing which ones you identify with, not as a part of you that is defective, but just as a part of you that you can grow and that’s it. So I really want you to hold on to that, because I also don’t believe in shame. Do not take on shame like you suck in some way. I don’t like that. I don’t do that around here.
Speaker 1:
So let’s get into these blocks, within mind that you love yourself and these are just beliefs that no longer serve you and that you can change them. So the first one is the worth block, and that’s a. Am I really good enough to charge that much? Am I really good enough to charge that much? Am I really good enough to have this business? Any of the am I good enough? Thoughts that you might have and this is one of the most damaging money blocks that women face. How often are you second guessing your prices, feeling nervous about charging your worth or just over delivering because you feel like you have to prove a value, just over delivering, because you feel like you have to prove a value? This may come up in stopping you from even moving forward or putting yourself out there.
Speaker 1:
A lot of women entrepreneurs feel like you have to justify your pricing. You have to offer discounts before anybody asks. You have to overload your services. You have to avoid premium rate because you don’t feel worthy of it. You can’t receive it because you’re putting yourself in this perfection category and we talk about perfectionism around here too, because that’s a myth and a lie, but it’s definitely something that’s been conditioned into women. It’s been conditioned into women that you’re not worth the big bucks, no matter what you do. We see this in society because men get paid more than women for doing the same job.
Speaker 1:
I’m going to be honest with you. I worked in a woman-dominated field and men got paid more for doing the least, but women had to work so hard and just never could get there. Like the men who did the least got the promotions. The mediocre men got to move up and the women were just stuck there working themselves to death 70 hours a week helping the men around them. But the men would get promoted. This goes to your worth, like trying to earn something. And why am I not worthy of that promotion? Why am I not worthy of that money? And so, from a career standpoint because many of us have careers before we start our own businesses we have this mindset of worth and trying to prove our worth and going above and beyond. But we don’t have to do that and it’s a worth block that really slows down that manifestation of wealth.
Speaker 1:
What I need you to hear, when it comes to your worth, is that your pricing what you get paid, the amount of money that you bring in and receive. It’s not about you. It’s about the transformation you provide and you don’t have to be perfect for it, and it can come from many places. That’s a whole other conversation and maybe we’ll go into a couple different episodes on each of these more in detail, but I just want you to have an idea that this could be blocking you. So if you ever thought who are you to charge this, I need you to flip that and say what is the value of the transformation I provide? What is that worth? What is the transformation worth? I need you to track the results that you’re getting for your clients through your products, your services. Stop discounting your prices out of guilt.
Speaker 1:
I am working with a new client right now. We are building her business from the ground up. It’s really fun and exciting. I love it when we do ground up building. That’s my favorite thing to do. She’s like well, I probably should discount because it’s my first ground of providing these products and she’s going no, we’ve had many conversations. You don’t undervalue yourself because you’re selling something for the first time. Like she has been doing this work for basically her whole life, y’all. Like it’s baking and she’s always been somebody who loves baking, from the time she could bake. Like you’ve always been doing this. Now you’re just selling it, so you don’t have to prove anything because you’re now using it as a business and moving past as like, basically a hobby, like you don’t have to do that. You know what you’re doing. You’ve been doing this. You’ve been discounting yourself your whole life, giving it to family and friends and people you love for free, your entire life. You have value. So I want you to also remind yourself that wealth flows where value is created and you provide that value.
Speaker 1:
Now the next one gosh, this is so big, especially for women in their 30s 40s. Guys, I know you’re with me on this because we grew up like this. Like I don’t see this so much in my daughters a little bit Like I see it. I see it a little bit more in my oldest daughter versus my youngest daughter, and that’s just how generations and societal programming works. But this block is the hustle block that success can only come through grinding yourself into exhaustion. That’s another one that the above and beyond right. This one runs deep, especially for older women who are starting businesses, because we’ve been taught that hard work is the only way to success and society glorified burnout as a badge of honor when we were coming up. And if you’re not constantly grinding, it can feel like you’re not doing enough. I’m going to be honest with you. I see women coaches and women in business who still have this block and they’re teaching other women to continue this, that they’re saying why are you sleeping, why are you watching TV? You’re not being productive and they’re still teaching this. So this is definitely a block that is still prevalent. I feel like it’s just more prevalent for our generations because it’s still happening. And this belief is dangerous for women entrepreneurs because we already do so much for our families, for our clients, for our businesses and yet we convince ourselves that more work is going to equal more money.
Speaker 1:
But money doesn’t come from exhaustion. It comes from alignment. I don’t even know I’ve been doing so much content lately, guys. Sorry, I’m trying to keep up. I don’t know if it was a blog, I don’t. I think it was part of the podcast last week. I’ve been doing so much. I’ve just been feeling very creative lately and very inspired. But that goes back to your creation versus your obligation, right Money? It comes from alignment and alignment comes from being in creation. I’m in. Creation happens so very easily, like writing this podcast, writing my blogs, like all of that stuff in no time at all. It just flows right on out of me very quickly. So I’ve been in creation and this has really been on my heart and it really goes to this like hustle, block, just hustling and doing tasks is not going to give you more money.
Speaker 1:
We talked about this on another post or another podcast I know for sure it was a podcast, not a blog but on another podcast about how you need to build your business the way you want it to be, because, however you build it, that’s how it’s going to be, and so you need to build an alignment for the life you want. Do you really want to work 24-7 all the time? If you’re always working but you never see big financial returns, that’s your sign you don’t need to do more. It’s your sign that you need to shift how you work. This is very important and I know some people are so scared, like there’s this big fear, like a fear of missing out on clients, a fear of missing out on the next big sale or the next big connection. You’re not going to miss out, and maybe you’re like Shannon I am seeing big financial returns, but if I slow down they’re going to stop.
Speaker 1:
That’s still a hustle block, like we need to align so that you can still have the flow of wealth without burnout and exhaustion and overwhelm. To do this, you have to redefine success. What if it’s not about more work but more impact? Shift from the how much more can I do to how can I create bigger results while working less and then start trusting that rest doesn’t slow you down, it makes you more magnetic to wealth. When I tell you I’ve been in such a creation mode, that’s because I allow myself to rest a lot. The more rested I am, the more I’m in boredom, the more I’m just in flow and ease instead of hustle and grind. The more ideas come to me, the more inspiration comes to me. It makes you more magnetic for wealth to flow to you because you’re in creation and when we create we bring in the frequency of wealth.
Speaker 1:
The third block is the comparison block, and I see this so much with women, especially women who are starting their businesses, and or older women like myself. Am I older? I don’t like saying I’m an older woman. I’m in my 40s, but women of my age group, millennial women like I, should be further along by now. So if you’ve ever scrolled through social media and you’re wondering to yourself like, why is everybody else crushing it and I’m still struggling, then this one’s for you, because comparison is a silent wealth blocker.
Speaker 1:
When you measure your success against somebody else’s highlight reels, against somebody else’s timelines, you stop recognizing your own progress, you feel like you’re behind, even though you’re growing, and you make these decisions about your business from desperation instead of alignment. There is no universal timeline for success, but when we get into comparison mode, we start judging ourselves. But when we get into comparison mode, we start judging ourselves. We start bringing in doubt to ourself Because what we believe about ourselves is an alignment to wealth. I’m going to go back to what I told you when we first started Money blocks aren’t just about what you believe about money. They’re about what you believe about yourself. So if you’re comparing yourself, then you are bringing in doubts about yourself and that’s what you believe. And now there’s a money block. Every time you compare yourself to somebody else, you’re judging your beginning against their middle and I always think how can we compare anyway? There’s so many variables in everybody’s lives, like we just don’t know. You see the highlight reels. You don’t know how long that person’s been working on it. They could have been working on it for 10 years, but they act like they just started it yesterday. You don’t know, we don’t know. We have got to stop the comparison game.
Speaker 1:
I am reading a book. It’s funny. I was talking to my daughter about this. We were just talking about different things and I’ve read two books recently. Take it how you Will, but I talking about different things and I’ve read two books recently. Take it how you will, but I call them women’s history. They’re women’s history books. One is Waking the Witch and the other one is Healing Witch Wounds.
Speaker 1:
If you read these books, they really are history books. They talk about art. They talk about how women were demonized, how the community of women was separated, how we got to this place of not being in sisterhood, all through dogmas about being witches when that wasn’t even the case. And it goes through all kinds of history. Both of these books I say it is women’s history because if you look at the history of witches and how they are treated, you will see the history of pushing down women, the history of the patriarchy and how that was used to establish the patriarchy, to keep women small and subdued and separated from each other. Very powerful read. These are women history books that show you how and where we are today when it comes to comparison. You how and where we are today when it comes to comparison. And the reason I’m saying this is me and my daughter were talking. We were talking about community of women and women’s support.
Speaker 1:
What you learn from these books is that women used to spend most of their time with each other and they weren’t isolated to their spouses and they had community, true community, where they weren’t competing with each other. They used the idea of witchcraft and that women together was just way too witchy. To break that up and to make women scared to come together, I feel like is where we get a lot of comparison, because for generations and generations and generations, we’ve been taught to stay separate from other women and through that separation there comes comparison. Should I be like her? I can’t commune with her. Do you see where I’m going with this? Like? There’s this comparison and it created the comparison block, because that’s not how our history is. We were communal and supportive of each other, so there wasn’t a need for comparison. Everybody just flowed in their gifts.
Speaker 1:
But now there is a comparison block and it is a silent wealth blocker because it’s a separation and when you go into comparison you go into isolation. So every time you compare yourself against somebody, you’re isolating yourself, you’re demeaning yourself and you’re telling yourself you’re less than You’re not as good, someone is better, and that can be one of the biggest and most silent wealth blockers there is. So start tracking your wins, every sale, every breakthrough, every lesson. I want you to unfollow our mute accounts that trigger self-doubt and find community, trusting that your journey is unfolding exactly as it should, finding the community of people who will support you, just to support you. I made a post about this because, yeah, when I tell you, I’ve just been so inspired. I made a post basically saying we do need that community, like, if I know somebody who can help you, I’m going to promote that person, because this comparison of competition also keeps us isolated and then we don’t promote other people out of fear because of comparison. I’m going to always promote Jenna for Magic Marketing Machine, if you want to know about social media marketing, because she’s fantastic. I’m not the end-all, be-all to growing your business and I don’t feel competition with her, not just because I don’t do social media marketing, but even if I did like, she’s superior and that’s fine. Let her gift shine. We need to let go of that. We need to understand we don’t have to be the end, all be all and we don’t have to compare ourselves to other people.
Speaker 1:
The fourth block is the stay in your place block, and this goes back to those books that I recommended. I don’t want to link them in the description because they are women’s history, but it’s the stay in yourplace block. Be grateful for what you have, don’t ask for more, be quiet, be hidden, be isolated, be completely dependent on a man. Don’t speak too much, don’t say too much, or we’re going to put a label on you as a witch, which is bad, and go burn you at the stake. This is generational and this is one of the biggest hidden money blocks for women, because you have been conditioned to be humble and not take up too much space and not to want too much. Be grateful for what you have, and wanting more is greedy and success isn’t for everyone, especially not women. Success is for men. This is generational conditioning. This keeps women shrinking their dreams before they even start. Maybe you do want that big thing, but you’re like, no, I gotta stay in my place. So you shrink your dream before you even start it. Wanting more doesn’t make you ungrateful, it makes you expansive, and we’ve been taught not to be expansive as women. We really need to move past these blocks and they’re hard and we have to do introspection, and they make us look at things that we probably don’t want to look at.
Speaker 1:
I have a lot of listeners from all walks of life and I’m telling you that you need to read the books Healing the Witch Wound and Waking the Witch and some of my listeners are gonna be like, oh my God. Literally go read your history, because the label of witch whether you practice witchcraft or a Christian or a Muslim, it doesn’t really matter, I don’t really care what your beliefs are, that’s irrelevant to me. Your beliefs are your beliefs. Witchcraft was used as a word against women, even if you didn’t practice it. Witchcraft was used to harm us. We need to understand our history. Really, wasn’t planning on going here in this podcast. It just needs to be said, because it was the beginning of the label of being a witch that pushed women so far down in society and programmed us to not want more, to stay in our place and to be scared.
Speaker 1:
In one of the books it talks about the history of the burning times in Europe and what happened during those times the amount of horror that was inflicted on everyday women just for being women, labeling them as a witch. And this stays just for being women, labeling them as a witch. And this stays generation after generation. How does that stay? How is it imparted into you in your childhood and through beliefs Don’t say too much, don’t be too loud, don’t speak up. Speak up, just a little, watch what you say. All of those things in women’s history started from places like that. It didn’t matter what your beliefs were. It did not matter because you know what it wasn’t about. Are you a witch or are you a Christian or are you a whatever? It started because you were a woman.
Speaker 1:
They put a label on women to make them stay in their place and to me, this is a huge block for women. That is a money block. No, it is not scarcity, it’s a. You have been conditioned for generations and generations to stay in your place and therefore you cannot manifest to your full potential because of this hidden block, because, in fact, wealth allows you to support causes that matter, to create opportunities for other, to change your family’s financial future. It is not about taking, it is about creating. But men would have you believe it is about taking, and they went after women specifically To break this block.
Speaker 1:
I truly feel like you need to understand how it came to be through generations throughout history, but you also have to give yourself permission to want more, to stop apologizing for your ambition and to trust that your success benefits everyone around you. It hurts no one. If you read these books, you’ll see how they tried to play off the gifts of women as harmful, when actually they helped the whole community around them. Research it and don’t be scared of the word witch or witchcraft, because that also holds you back, because they made it so ugly and dirty that now you don’t even realize where this whole conditioning of staying in your place came from, because you won’t pick up that book that teaches you how men did this generations ago, because it wasn’t always this way, and how they used one term and distorted it throughout history.
Speaker 1:
Waking the Witch is really, really good if you want to go into how this affected art, how this affected writing I mean it goes through it all how it affects media, even today, from back then until now. It goes through every piece of where this touched history for women. You don’t have to believe in witchcraft, but understand you were created small using that as a method, not because of witchcraft itself, but because you were a woman. I feel like this is just probably the biggest block I see with women, and this block of staying in your place and how women were taught to be honestly is the jumping point for the comparison block. It is the jumping point for the hustle block. It is the jumping point for the worth block. It is the jumping point for the scarcity mindset. It was the removal and stripping of women’s innate power.
Speaker 1:
I’m going to go more into these mindsets, probably individually. I really encourage you to get these books, to read women’s history, because even if you don’t practice witchcraft, if you say I’m not a witch, it doesn’t matter because you as a woman were targeted regardless using that word. I was going to go through, like you know how to break your money blocks and all that. I think we’re going to go through. Like you know how to break your money blocks and all that. I think we’re going to go through each one of these on their own on later podcasts. I really feel like your exercise for this week should be learning women’s history, because women’s history is hidden in places that we’re told not to look, like books about witches.
Speaker 1:
Usually I would give some sort of this is how we move forward manifestation advice, and maybe you’re like Shannon, that’s all I came here for, that’s all I want. But I feel like I would be doing you a disservice if we just really glossed over how we got here. The stay in your place block is a big one and we have to know how did we get here as women? So I’m going to link the two books that I talked about in the description. I encourage you to get them, I encourage you to read them and I encourage you to have an open mind, because it’s the history of women and the demonization of women. It went completely off script because you guys know I write this, so I don’t go off script, but I’m just going to go with the flow. And this is vulnerable for me because I typically don’t talk about certain books that I read, because there’s so much judgment that comes with it, because I don’t even feel free to say it in the world that we live in.
Speaker 1:
But I’m going to link both of these books because I believe that they’re important to understand this big block of staying in your place and how it started, because it was not always this way. So how did it get this way? And we need to know. How did it get this way? How did I get to feeling so small? It’s in our history. We need to understand it so we can overcome it. It literally goes into the healing women, the midwife women, using herbs as medicine. But that’s all witchcraft, right? We’ve been told that’s all witchcraft.
Speaker 1:
And then it was turned around and used to demonize women. Something ugly and bad Women had the power. New power was stripped. When did that happen? How that happened? Go look through history. And it really began happening with the demonization of women. So I think that’s important to understand for this wound, for this block for us women, but that women are so expansive and so powerful that generations of men have demonized women to take the power from them. And once you realize that power is in you and you wake up that power, there’s nothing you can’t manifest, including your business success.
Speaker 1:
So I’m gonna leave it at that, because I don’t even know what else to say. Know that I love you. I want the best for you. I believe you’re valuable. I believe you’re powerful. I believe women need to rise in our creation, in our beauty, in this magnificent way that we were created, with all of our gifts. Wealth isn’t about struggle. It’s about alignment. Power isn’t about oppression or suppression, about lifting other people up with you. So we’ll get back to our regularly scheduled stuff next week. Abundance is yours. Reconnect with your power. I know you’ve got this and I’ll see you next week.
